Breed Information . . .

Owning a Japanese Spitz is an honour and a privilege. There is something quite unique about this particular breed of dog. They are endearing and beautiful to look at and wherever you go with them you will get noticed, not for you of course but for the stunning way that they look. You never need feel lonely when you have a Japanese Spitz with you because wherever you go people will stop and speak to you. Having said that they readily form a part of any family and they thrive on belonging to that family unit.

Often referred to as a 'self-cleaning dog' they can be filthy dirty one minute and absolutely spotless the next. Their coats seem to be 'teflon coated' and with a small amount of brushing, on a regular basis, they easily keep in pristine condition. They are not a 'trimmed' breed except perhaps for a bit of tidying up around the feet and pads but this just helps reduce the amount of mud and dirt being brought into the house and they have the added bonus of not having a 'doggy odour'.

So please read on in our Breed Intro Section to learn more about this wonderful little dog but beware of becoming entranced by its features, its easy going nature, its adaptability and, on many occasions, its cheekiness.
